Hip-Hop is undoubtedly one of the most influential genres of music to date. Consistently evolving, Hip-Hop has became the most dominating genre within the music industry, taking over the Billboards and creating a large influence on award shows.

CONTACT HIGH: A Visual History of Hip-Hop is an exhibition on display at the International Center of Photography in New York, New York. The exhibit displays the history of Hip-Hop from the 1970s until now. The images and videos displayed not only cover the impact on the music industry, but the impact on culture, fashion, and even politics.

Commonly, when speaking on the impact of Hip-Hop, those who are recognized are big stars like Jay-Z, Biggie, and Tupac, completely disregarding those under them and also undermining the female Hip-Hop artists. Contact High highlighted influential artists like Eve, The Roots, Rakim, A Tribe Called Quest, and WuTang Clan, while also highlighting those who came after like Andre 3000, Kanye West, Mac Miller, Tyler The Creator, Pharrell, and many more.

The exhibition was phenomenal and not only educated those on the movements within Hip-Hop, but it also shined a spotlight on Neo-Soul artists like Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill, and En Vogue.

The exhibit is on display at the International Center of Photography from January 25, 2020 - May 18, 2020. Admission is $16 but there are special rates for other attendees.
